How to Host My Private Group Buy on EstateJio?

5 Reasons You Should Convert Your Group Buy from WhatsApp to EstateJio

When conducting your own group buys, use our “Host a Jio” feature to create the listings and take orders. It is quick to set up and easy to use!

1. How do I host my own Group Buy on EstateJio?

You are a group buy host for Fruits SG, a Singaporean fruits company. Every week, you are taking group buy orders for your group. However, you (or your group members) find it laborious and messy to consolidate/place orders through Whatsapp and a spreadsheet. To help yourself, use the “Host a Jio” feature on EstateJio to create a group buy (Jio).

We will use the aforementioned scenario to show you how to host your own group buy. Note: You will need to be an EstateJio member (it’s free!) and join an estate to access this function.

1.1 To Create Your Group Buy

  1. Tap on “Host a Jio” on the homepage.
  2. Upload image(s) of your Offer.
  3. Enter your Offer Name.
  4. Enter a description for your Offer.
  5. Assign a value to Price and Discount Price (if necessary).
  6. Set an Offer Effective Date to let members know when the group buy will end.
  7. Set your Group Buy Target (by number of orders, order quantity or order amount).
  8. To create options for your group buy, tap on “Show Additional”
  9. Upon completion, tap on “Submit” and your Offer will be created.
  10. Tap on “Submit” and your Offer will be created.

You will need to add options when your group buy consists of more than one type of product. For example, if Shepard avocados and Thai longans are available in your group buy, each fruit type is counted as an option. So, option 1 is “Australia Shepard Avocado (3 pcs) and option 2 will be “Thai Organic Longans (per kg)”. Enter the prices accordingly.

1.2 To Track Your Group Buy

  1. Tap on “More”.
  2. Tap on “My Hosted Jio”.
  3. Tap on the Jio of your choice to view in details.

1.3 To Add FAQ To Your Group Buy

  1. Tap on “More”.
  2. Tap on “My Hosted Jio”.
  3. Tap on the Jio of your choice.
  4. Tap on “Edit FAQ” to create your FAQs.

Add FAQs (e.g. the number to PayNow or country of origin etc) if necessary and they will be visible to all members.

1.4 To Confirm Order and Download Order List

When the Jio is successful (i.e. the minimum group buy target is met), it is time to confirm the order. As a Host, you will need to acknowledge that the group buy is moving forward:

  1. Tap on “More”.
  2. Tap on “My Hosted Jio”.
  3. Tap on the Jio of your choice.
  4. Tap on “View Order List”.
  5. Tap on “Confirm Order” to trigger notifications to all participating members.
  6. Tap on “Send Order List” to receive complete order list via your registered email.

You have to acknowledge the orders before you can send the order list to yourself.

1.5 Wait, what about payment?

At the moment, there are 4 ways you may inform members on your preferred payment methods – such as the number to PayLah! or PayNow:

  1. Using the FAQ (see section 3.3) to indicate the number to pay to;
  2. Tap on “Discover”, search for the created Jio, then tap on “Enquiry” to broadcast the number to members;
  3. Use the Chat feature on the order list page (tap on “View Order List”) to let members know individually; or
  4. Recommended Method: You can use the Payment Request to request payment from all buyers at one go!

In-app payment is coming soon to EstateJio Member app!

2. Tips when hosting a Jio

2.1 Give a succinct Jio name

Consider brevity and clarity when it comes to writing a Jio name. Keep the Jio name simple but explicit so other members know what your group buy is about.

Using the aforesaid scenario, a succinct Jio name could be “Fruits SG -Fruits Group Buy”. If your Jio only involves one product, an ideal name will be “Super Sweet Thai Organic Longans! (S$9 per kg).

2.2 Add unit of measurement for each product option you

Your Jio may have more than one type of product. Do not forget to include the unit of measurement for each product option you created so buyers know the quantity to order.

For example, instead of “Australia Shepard Avocado”, “Australia Shepard Avocado (3 pcs)” tells buyers they are paying the given price for 3 avocados. Or “Thai Organic Longans (per kg)” to show that the price stated is for 1 kg of organic longans.

3. FAQs

What types of group buy (Jio) can I host?

Anything. The world is your oyster. For many group-buyers, food is the biggest draw.

Do I need to pay to host a Jio?

No, you do not need to pay to host a Jio.

Do I need to be a member to host a Jio?

Yes, you will need to sign up as an EstateJio member (it’s free!) and join an estate before you can host your own Jio.

Who can take part in my Jio?

Any EstateJio member who joins the estate where you host the Jio can take part.

How can I get my neighbours/residents to join my Jio?

You can share the Jio on your preferred mode of communication (WhatsApp etc).

If your neighbour is already an EstateJio member, opening the link will bring him/her directly to your Jio page. Otherwise, he/she will prompt to download the EstateJio app and sign up as a member.

It depends on the Offer Effective Date you set.

Someone is hosting the same item as me. What should I do?

It doesn’t matter, you can still host your group buy.

I don’t host. Can I submit a Group Buy that I saw instead?

Of course, you can submit a Group Buy using the “Propose Jio” feature.

What is the difference between “Host a Jio” and “Propose Jio”?

When you use the “Host a Jio” feature, you are in charge of the group buy. Any question will be directed to you and when the group buy successfully closes, the order list will be emailed to you. In short, you are responsible for submitting the order list to the Business Provider.

However, when you use the “Propose Jio” feature, you want the Business Provider to come on-board the EstateJio platform officially. This effectively makes them the point of contact for the Jio. They can be involved in the discussion, reply to any query the potential buyers may have, and when the group buy successfully closes, download the entire order list.

What should I do when I face an error when hosting a Jio?

You can contact us via the app. Tap on “More” followed by “Contact Support”. Tell us the technical difficulty you faced and attach an image file if necessary.
